This notice explains what personal data we collect when you request access to the private screener, why we collect it, who it is shared with, and the rights you have under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR. We have written it to be read, not to be hidden.

1. Who is responsible for your data

THIS IS A CHILD is a documentary presented by Focus on the Family in partnership with Them Before Us. This registration page and the screener programme are operated on their behalf by Catalyst Resource Group, which manages the email and CRM systems used to send your screening link.

For the purposes of UK and EU data protection law, Focus on the Family is the data controller for the personal data you submit here. You can reach the privacy team through the contact details in Focus on the Family's main Privacy Policy.

2. What we collect

• Information you give us through the registration form: your first name, last name, and email address.
• Aggregate analytics: we use Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not collect personal data or track you across sites. It tells us only anonymous, aggregate things like how many people viewed the page.
• Spam protection: the form uses Google reCAPTCHA, which processes limited device and usage signals to confirm you are a person and not a bot.

3. Why we use it, and our lawful basis

• To send your screening link and related emails, including the follow-up survey. Lawful basis: your consent, given when you submit the form.
• To protect the form from spam and abuse (reCAPTCHA). Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in keeping the service secure.
• To understand aggregate traffic (cookieless analytics). Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in improving the page; no personal data or cookies are involved.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with the providers who help us run the screener:

• ActiveCampaign — the email and CRM platform that stores your details and delivers your screening link, used on our behalf by Catalyst Resource Group.
• Google — provides the reCAPTCHA spam protection on the form.
• Vercel — hosts this site and provides the cookieless analytics.

5. International transfers

Some of these providers are based in the United States, so your data may be transferred outside the UK and the European Economic Area. Where that happens, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the UK and EU Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU–US and UK Data Privacy Framework.

6. Cookies and similar technologies

This site does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. The only technologies in use are:

reCAPTCHA is governed by Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your registration details for as long as we need them to run the screener programme and, where you have consented to emails, until you withdraw that consent or ask us to erase your data. Aggregate analytics contain no personal data and are retained only in anonymous form.

8. Your rights

Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR you have the right to:

• access the personal data we hold about you;
• have inaccurate data corrected, or incomplete data completed;
• have your data erased;
• restrict or object to how we use it;
• receive your data in a portable format;
• withdraw your consent at any time — this will not affect processing already carried out, and you can unsubscribe from any email using the link in it.

To exercise any of these rights, contact the privacy team via Focus on the Family's Privacy Policy. If you are in the UK and you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk). If you are in the EU, you may complain to your local data protection authority.

9. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. Any changes will appear on this page with a revised effective date.
